Blackfish Sigint

Horizon BlackFish

Horizon Technologies' BlackFish™ is a state-of-the-art airborne Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) system designed to passively monitor and geolocate satellite phone communications across Iridium, Thuraya, and Inmarsat networks. Building upon the legacy of the FlyingFish™ system, BlackFish™ offers enhanced capabilities in a compact, lightweight, and fully airborne-qualified package, making it ideal for integration into both manned and unmanned aircraft for comprehensive Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

Advanced Tri-Band Monitoring Capabilities

BlackFish™ simultaneously monitors Iridium, Thuraya, and Inmarsat (IsatPhone Pro) satellite phones, capable of handling up to 60 duplex or 120 simplex channels concurrently. This tri-band functionality enables operators to detect and monitor communications and call activity within radio line-of-sight, with interception ranges extending up to hundreds of kilometers for uplinks and thousands for downlinks. Equipped with tactical mission software, BlackFish™ seamlessly integrates into existing aircraft ISR systems, providing real-time intelligence to support mission objectives.

Compact Design with Robust Performance

Designed with a focus on Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) efficiency, BlackFish™ is a lightweight system that ensures minimal impact on aircraft performance. Its passively cooled, fanless architecture enhances reliability during operations in extreme conditions. Fully compliant with DO-160 airborne standards and non-ITAR regulated, BlackFish™ offers flexibility and ease of integration across various platforms, including UAVs, aerostats, and other aircraft requiring lightweight sensors.

Proven Effectiveness in Diverse Missions

Deployed globally by numerous NATO and allied countries, BlackFish™ has been instrumental in a variety of missions, including counter-piracy, border security, counter-drug smuggling, and refugee rescue operations. Its ability to geolocate and monitor satellite phone communications has contributed to the rescue of over 200,000 migrants in the Mediterranean Sea and played a key role in reducing piracy incidents off the coast of East Africa.
